Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Job Description

Provide full-scope Labor & Delivery nursing care in an 8-bed unit, including Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum, and Newborn Nursery (Couplet Care). Responsibilities include:

• Intrapartum management: induction/augmentation, high-risk labor monitoring, fetal heart rate interpretation
• Circulating C-sections
• Immediate newborn stabilization and participation in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Routine newborn assessments
• Postpartum and couplet care for stable mothers and infants
• Ability to float within Women’s Services
• Function independently in a low-volume, high-acuity rural setting
• Transition between labor, nursery, and couplet assignments based on census and staffing needs

Shift: Days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Patient Ratio: 1:1 during labor, 3:1 for couplet care
Must work 1 major holiday if assignment overlaps
Maximum requested time off: 6 days within a 6-week period

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Ability to circulate C-sections
• High-risk labor management
• Pitocin titration
• Fetal monitoring interpretation
• Participation in neonatal resuscitation

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous rural hospital experience
• Experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) model

Additional Information

• Must be located more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify
• Scrub color: Navy blue or pink
• Electronic Medical Record systems used: GE Centricity Perinatal, Medhost for orders, charges, and medication scanning
