Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, days; alternating weekdays with varying start times between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM
  • On-Call: Yes
    • Weekend call once every 4 weekends (24-hour call on Saturday and Sunday)
    • Must take call one night per week from 7 PM to 7 AM
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
  • Floating: No floating required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute Care Hospital setting
  • Total staffed beds: 286
  • Electronic Health Record system: Epic
  • Scrub color provided
  • Free parking available
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9 attestation and documentation)
  • Valid Driver’s License/State ID
  • Social Security Card or equivalent documentation
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year work/living history
    • National and state criminal checks
    • Sex offender registry
    • Federal exclusions lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Education verification (diploma or transcripts as placeholder if needed)
  • Primary source license verification (active, unencumbered)
  • NURSYS verification for RN license
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
  • Color blindness testing prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam
  • Competency exam relevant to unit
  • References: 2 clinical references required
  • Employment history verification for last 3 clinical employers

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if prior positive
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2-6 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge (frontal view, business casual attire)
  • First Day Instructions and OurDay platform modules must be completed before orientation
  • Upload vaccination records (COVID and flu) into facility system

Additional Notes

  • Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks; called off hours can be broken down but total no more than 1 shift
  • Block scheduling requests require manager approval and depend on unit needs
  • Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis

This position is ideal for experienced PACU RNs with solid Med-Surg background and prior travel contract experience, seeking a 13-week travel assignment in an acute care hospital environment with structured shifts and on-call responsibilities.
