CVOR Tech - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina

Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday
Call: 10 days/month including one weekend per month
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting with 3 rooms serving adults and geriatrics (ages 20s to 90s).
• Procedures include aortic and mitral valve surgeries, ASD, redo surgeries, esophagogastrectomy, CABG with/without valve repair or replacement, VATS, thoracotomy, mediastinoscopy, TAVR, port-a-cath placement, robotic thoracic surgery, carotid endarterectomy, IABP insertion/removal, myxoma removal, pneumonectomy, tracheostomy, VSD, and more.
• Use of PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR communication tools.
• Orientation: 36 hours; scrubs provided.
• No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist.
• CVOR Technologist experience within the last year.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background checks required within 90 days of start, including local, federal, national criminal databases, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree relevant to profession.
• Drug screen: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required and updated annually.
• Fit mask testing required (N95 or PAPR training).
• Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or series or facility-specific declination), and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
• TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year of start; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire within 30 days of start.
• Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1–10/31).

Certifications

• BCLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross accepted.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross accepted.
• Other certifications may be required based on unit description but not specified for this role.

Orientation and Training

• Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation required for North Carolina travel candidates; can take 8-10 hours for acute care.
• Medication Safety training module completion required with certificate submission.
• Competency exams and color blindness testing required as applicable.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam not required for CVOR specialty.

Additional Information

• Candidates must provide a passport-style photo on a solid white background for badge creation.
• Confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, and annual compliance training required.
• Candidates must complete the Corp ID process by setting up Novant Health system access and logging into I-Learn within 24 hours of receiving credentials.
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for travel allied and acute care candidates.

• Orientation includes review of hospital dress code and other facility-specific policies.
