Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Long Term Care (LTC) – Nights

Location: Bellaire, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Nights
Hours per Week: Approximately 36 hours (every other weekend plus 2 shifts during the week)
Shift Length: 12 hours


Job Summary

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved nursing techniques and facility policies.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during treatments and examinations.
  • Monitor residents’ vital signs and conditions; report significant changes to supervisors, physicians, and families.
  • Assign and coordinate nursing duties on the unit to meet resident needs in compliance with physician instructions and regulations.
  • Participate in orientation, training, and evaluation of nursing personnel.
  • Maintain records including narcotics, admissions, discharges, transfers, and incident reports.
  • Participate in care planning, complete nursing assessments, and update resident care plans accurately and timely.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and uphold residents’ rights.
  • Attend facility in-services and ward conferences as assigned.
  • Ensure cleanliness and comfort of resident rooms and unit.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Long Term Care (LTC), including Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) settings.
  • Long Term Care experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one prior successful travel RN assignment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Additional Requirements

  • Provide work history with explanations for any employment gaps over 3 months.
  • Submit a skills checklist specific to nursing discipline (less than 1 year old).
  • Provide 2 supervisory references from the past 2 years.
  • Certifications must be active at time of submission.
  • COVID vaccination status must be disclosed if applicable.
  • Must be flexible with scheduling; block scheduling is not approved.
  • Locals residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible.

Facility & Work Environment Notes

  • 133-bed long term care facility.
  • Facility has a dog, cat, and aviary birds on site; travelers must be comfortable with animals.
  • Limited housing options; travelers should arrange accommodations in advance.
  • Timesheets are not signed by the facility and are uploaded unsigned for review.

Scheduling Details

  • Work schedule includes every other weekend plus two weekday shifts to total 36 hours per week.
  • Facility operates on a Sunday-Saturday schedule; shifts may include weekends.
  • Overtime and holiday pay apply at 1.25x the standard rate (not included here).
  • Call-back pay applies with a minimum of 2 hours per call-back event.
  • Orientation hours are non-billable.

This is a temporary night shift RN position in a long term care setting requiring at least 2 years of relevant experience, an active Michigan RN license, BLS certification, and prior travel nursing experience. The role demands flexibility in scheduling, comfort with animals on site, and adherence to facility policies including COVID protocols.
