ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Average Daily Census: 10 patients
  • Unit Type: Trauma/Burn ICU with medical and cardiac overflow patients
  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet designated
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • Burn ICU experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Background and Compliance Checks

  • Background check within 30 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including SSN trace, counties, states, national criminal, sex offender, and FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification (initial degree verification required)
  • Illinois-specific searches including Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, and State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry within 30 days of start
  • Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry fingerprinting required for clinical candidates without an IL license; prints must be taken in Illinois 3 business days prior to start

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, NP, PA, or equivalent, confirming good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted); annual expiration required for new contracts
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer for Measles, Mumps, Rubella; Hepatitis B vaccine series or positive titer; 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer) or signed declination
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30

Additional Requirements

  • Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
  • Skills checklist required for clinical candidates
  • Two professional references required
  • Badge photo required within one week of contract signing (color photo, mid-shoulders up, plain background)
  • Completion and signing of code of conduct and parking permit forms within 7 days of contract signing
  • Guaranteed hours subject to client call-off policy (client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay)

Notes

  • Scrub color: Any solid color allowed
  • Travelers may be called off or placed on-call; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts for billing purposes
  • Facility can accommodate latex allergies

This position is suitable for ICU RNs with at least 1 year of experience, willing to work night shifts and float as needed within critical care areas. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
