Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Urology Clinic (Travel/Contract)

Position Details

  • Role: Registered Nurse in an outpatient Urology Clinic
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Weekend Requirement: No
  • On-call Requirement: No
  • Floating Between Units: No
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, but not required
  • Pending Oregon RN License accepted upon submittal; must have license in hand or pending

Specialty & Experience

Key Responsibilities & Skills

  • Perform repeated daily catheterization for both male and female patients
  • Manage suprapubic catheter changes
  • Must have highly rated catheter skills and proficiency in all urology-related nursing skills
  • Patient diagnoses commonly seen include:
    • Prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular, penile cancers
    • Incontinence, BPH, erectile dysfunction
    • Renal calculus, voiding dysfunction, overactive bladder, urinary retention
    • Male urinary tract infections, circumcision, undescended testicles

Required Licenses & Certifications

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinic experience, with clinic experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in Urology nursing

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
  • Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM, IV Certification, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification may be required based on clinical track and facility requirements (verify per assignment)
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
  • 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant tests acceptable with attestation)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance for respirator use (travel only)
  • Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
    • SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Counties, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification
  • State-specific background checks and abuse/neglect searches as applicable
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors)
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting

Facility & System Requirements

  • Charting system: EPIC
  • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
  • Completion of required WorkRamp modules prior to start and annually thereafter, including:
    • Regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for Urology or outpatient clinic settings
    • Regional and facility-specific modules as assigned
  • Skills checklist updated annually as applicable
  • Float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float within reasonable distance)

Additional Notes

  • ONC certification is not required but highly desired
  • Locals and true travel candidates are both acceptable
  • No weekend or on-call duties expected
  • No floating between units required for this role
