Job Opportunity: Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with telemetry experience to provide care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring. The unit manages patients with chest pain, arrhythmias, pacemakers, defibrillators, and heart failure. The nurse will work night shifts and float to other telemetry units as needed.


Key Details

  • Shift: Nights, 18:45 - 07:15
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
  • Float Requirement: Yes, to other telemetry units
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend days in a 6-week period
  • Orientation: 36 hours
  • Systems Used: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
  • Scrubs: Not provided

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Telemetry skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Comfortable managing cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Heparin
  • Experience with cardiac GTT (glucose tolerance test)
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Compliance & Testing Requirements

  • Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
  • Background checks including local, federal, and national criminal databases, education verification, and state-specific registry searches
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (or 30 days if past positive TB)
  • Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (not required for non-clinical)
  • Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination), Flu vaccine or approved exemption
  • TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; chest x-ray if positive TB history
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color blindness testing within 1 year

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Telemetry experience with a minimum of 2 years, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Comfortable managing cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Heparin
  • Experience managing dysrhythmias
  • Experience with cardiac glucose tolerance testing (GTT)

Additional Requirements

  • 4 weekend days in a 6-week period
  • Must complete facility-specific orientation and compliance training modules (approx. 8-10 hours)
  • Must complete annual compliance and medication safety training
  • Required to complete facility-specific confidentiality and policy acknowledgments
  • Must provide a passport-style photo for badge creation prior to start
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years (for travel and acute care roles)

Notes

  • No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
  • Float to other telemetry units required
  • Candidates must be comfortable with telemetry monitoring and cardiac medication drips
  • Orientation and competency testing are mandatory before starting the assignment
