Description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Nights

Location: Lima, Ohio
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Nights
Hours per Day: 12
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Responsible and accountable for patient care during assigned shift.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria.
  • Make clinical judgments based on scientific knowledge and skills.
  • Assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.
  • Must float to all units within skill level and scope of practice. Refusal to float may result in being sent home without pay for the week.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
  • Post-operative open heart care experience (required).
  • Chest tube and other drain management experience (required).
  • Pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access (required).
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, including reading/interpreting cardiac rhythm strips and responding to changes (required).
  • Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities (required).
  • Experience with:
    • Assisting with chest tube removal.
    • Assisting with removal of pericardial pacing wires.
    • Management of temporary pacers (pericardial and transcutaneous).
    • Use and troubleshooting of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices, high-flow oxygen, and other oxygen delivery systems.
  • Critical care experience is highly preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active Ohio RN license or Compact RN license verified through Nursys.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS certification.

Additional Information

  • Patient-to-nurse ratio approximately 4-5:1.
  • Unit dress code: Navy Blue.
  • Electronic Medical Record system: MediTech.
  • Nonbillable hours: 8 hours per contract.
  • OT/Holiday/Call back pay at 1.25x regular rates.

Notes for Candidates

  • Must maintain a current skills checklist relevant to Telemetry specialty within the past year.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Floating to other units within skill set is mandatory.
