NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Brownwood, Texas
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 - 7:00)
Hours per Week: 48
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Preferred start date: May 18 (June 15 may be considered, no other orientation dates available)
- Schedule includes every other weekend
- Level II or III NICU experience preferred
- One contract option for 36 hours and another for 48 hours available
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma required
- Texas-specific checks: Employability Status Check and Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Fit mask test (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required and updated annually
- Annual flu vaccination or approved exemption required for 2025-26 season
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray required; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- TB questionnaire required annually regardless of TB status
- Required immunizations or positive titers (or boosters if non-immune) for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
- Varicella
Orientation and Facility Specific Requirements
- Orientation includes 3-4 hours of required modules
- Various facility-specific acknowledgments and forms must be reviewed and signed prior to start, including:
- Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
- TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
- Patient Centered Pledge
- Contract Employee Receipt and Acknowledgement
- Computer Security Agreement
- Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
- Confidentiality Statement
- Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
- Self Identify Form
- Relationship to Physician Form
- Authorization for Background Check
- Traveler Identification Form
- Employee handbook must be reviewed (no submission required)

- Two professional references required within 3 years of start

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- Pass/Fail testing for Telemetry nurses includes EKG and medication knowledge; candidates have up to two attempts to pass
