Registered Nurse - Ortho (Travel/Contract)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: 38-bed Orthopedics unit
- Shift: Nights, either 4x12 or 3x12 hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
- Hours per week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: May float to other Medical-Surgical departments as needed
- Block schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals accepted without radius restrictions
- On-call: None
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Orthopedics nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- PICC line management skills
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
- Magnet designated facility
- Total staffed beds: 562
- Charting system: Cerner
- Scrub color: Any solid color
- Parking: Permit required, no cost
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, NP, PA, or equivalent
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene)
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including criminal, sex offender, and federal exclusions
- State-specific searches required within 30 days of start (Illinois Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, State Police registries)
- Fingerprinting required in Illinois within 3 business days prior to start for clinical candidates without an IL license
- Education verification required
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Professional references: 2 required for travel/acute care clinical candidates
Additional Notes
- Candidate must submit a badge photo within one week of contract signing
- Candidate must review and sign code of conduct and parking permit forms within 7 days of contract signing
- Facility accommodates latex allergies
- Guaranteed hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as canceled shifts
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
This position is suitable for RNs with orthopedic experience seeking a night shift travel contract in an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospital environment.
