Registered Nurse - ER
Location: Mooresville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
- Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Must be willing to work flexible shifts including nights and mid shifts if needed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW/EOH)
- On-Call Requirement: Yes (PRN due to low census)
- Floating: Yes, within scope of training
- Orientation: Biweekly
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Must be completed within 90 days of start date
- Includes SSN trace, county searches for past 7 years, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), education verification (if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (no exemptions)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunization or positive titers (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella immunization or positive titer (boosters required if low/equivocal)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel including THC within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- References: Two professional references from employment within last 12 months; at least one must be a supervisor
- Employment Application: Required with 7 years of work history
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
- Competency Exam: Unit-specific competency exam required
- Duke Guest Account: Must be set up prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be willing to complete online orientation modules prior to start
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training will be provided onsite if candidate does not have current certification
- Candidates must complete competency checklists (CBOs) within 3 weeks after start date
- Flexible scheduling and floating within training scope expected
- Local candidates receive a different pay rate (not included here)
This position is suitable for experienced ER nurses with required certifications and licensure, willing to work nights and flexible shifts in a fast-paced emergency department setting.
