Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care in the Emergency Room serving all patient age groups (pediatric and adult) in a 31-room unit.
- Utilize clinical decision-making skills to assess, intervene, and stabilize patients with various illnesses, injuries, or trauma.
- Work with systems including EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR.
- Complete a competency-based orientation program to become proficient in Emergency Services patient care.
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
- Weekend work required every other weekend.
- No preference on scrub color.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department (ED), with at least some experience within the last year.
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience working with Epic electronic health record system.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start including:
- Social Security verification
- National sex offender registry
- National and state criminal searches (excluding NH counties; NH State Police search required)
- Education verification (transcript/diploma accepted if pending)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 14 days prior to start (no exceptions).
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
- Respiratory safety clearance via virtual questionnaire required.
- Two current professional references within the last 3 years, including one from a supervisor or charge RN.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Annual internal evaluation required for travelers with 1+ year tenure.
Immunization and Health Requirements
- Flu vaccination required annually during October 31 - April 1 period; medical or religious exemptions allowed with proper documentation and approval.
- Tdap vaccine required after age 19 and within the last 10 years; medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation and approval.
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year prior to start; if past positive, additional documentation required.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity (titer or vaccines) for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with waiver)
- Varicella (history of disease NOT accepted)
- Religious exemptions are NOT allowed for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, or varicella. Medical exemptions require provider documentation.
Additional Requirements
- SSA release and state-specific releases (NH statewide, MA CORI if applicable) required.
- Photo for badge (passport style, jpeg format).
- Proof of auto insurance required if driving to patient homes (Home Health, Hospice, Visiting Nurse roles).
- Facility-specific compliance attestations and immunization waiver forms may be required.
- Travelers who have previously been employed by the associated health system are not eligible.
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment.
Notes
- Candidates must complete all required documentation and clearances prior to start date.
- Failure to pass required exams or background checks may result in cancellation.
- Fit mask test required annually; if failed, CAPR training must be completed on site.
- Drug screens and physical exams do not require annual updates but must be current at start.
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with strong clinical skills, EPIC proficiency, and required certifications seeking a travel contract in New Hampshire.
