Description
Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Tampa, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Caseload: 20-30 cases per day
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level II Trauma, Level I Pediatric Trauma
- Unit: 4 procedure rooms (3 with biplane imaging), equipment includes Siemens and GE systems
- Typical Procedures: Stroke intervention, neurointerventions, PE thrombectomy & thrombolysis, DVT interventions, pain management, oncology procedures (Y-90, MAAs, chemoembolizations), stents, ablations, angioplasty, angiograms, nephrogram, kyphoplasty, vascular and neurological studies, stroke thromectomy IR experience required
- Charting System: Cerner EMR (preferred)
- Scrub Color: Black or Navy
- Parking: Included
Required Qualifications
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Florida
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- Vascular Technologist experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ARRT certification
Work Requirements
- Weekend Work: Required
- On-Call: Yes, 8-10 call days per month including one Saturday per month
- 30-minute response time required
- On-call sleep rooms available
- Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required; no floating to sister facilities
- Block Schedule: Possible, to be discussed during interview
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Guaranteed Hours: Apply after first call off per pay period
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks: Standard background check within 1 year including 7 years of residence/work/school history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks
- Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start; Livescan electronic fingerprinting recommended if not already cleared
- Education Verification: Required for all candidates; foreign equivalency evaluation required if education was completed outside the US or Puerto Rico
- Physical Exam: Required within 6 months of start
- TB Testing: PPD, Qgold, or T-spot within 10 weeks of start; chest X-ray required if prior positive PPD; TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of annual TB test
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Titer or 2 vaccines, booster if low/equivocal titers
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination
- Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines, booster if low/equivocal titers
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or documented declination required (masking required if declined)
- COVID-19 vaccination required (exemptions accepted)
- Drug Testing: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Respirator Clearance: Required annually if respirator use is necessary
Required Training and Competencies
- Stroke Education CEUs: 8 total stroke-related CEUs required (including NIH Stroke Certification and mRS certification)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable, minimum score 80%
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- Competency Exams: Required as applicable, minimum score 80%
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for RNs in specified units, must score 100% on lethal arrhythmia section
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for Behavioral Health and highly desired for Psych ER (not applicable for this role)
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for Badge: Clear, professional photo with solid background required prior to start
- Dress Code & Tobacco Policy: Must be acknowledged and followed
- Account Registration & Modules: Must register and complete required online training modules prior to start (4-8 hours estimated)
- AHCA Privacy Policy, Affidavit, and Demographic Information: Required for all clinical candidates
- References: Two professional references from the past 2 years required
- Employment Application and Skills Checklist: Must be completed and uploaded

This position offers a dynamic and challenging environment with a wide variety of interventional radiology procedures in a high-acuity acute care setting. Candidates should be prepared for weekend and on-call responsibilities and have strong vascular IR experience.
