Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Travel)

Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in a 54-bed Emergency Department designated as a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center.
  • ED treats over 60,000 patients annually with nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:1 (critical/trauma) to 1:3-4 (other patients).
  • Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals as needed.
  • Work schedule includes 36 or 48 hours per week, holidays as required, and every other weekend.
  • Patient-facing clinical role; not remote.
  • Dress code: Solid navy scrubs.
  • Electronic Medical Record system used: Meditech.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alabama
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
    • SECURE certification (on site)

  • Timesheet approver roles available (primary and backup).
  • Parking is available.
  • Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals.
