Description

Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery

Location: Fort Defiance, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum rooms, Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), and babies rooming in with moms.
  • Average patient volume: approximately 40 deliveries and 6 C-sections per month.
  • May occasionally cover as charge nurse after completing charge nurse training.
  • Travelers may be required to float to other qualified departments, performing patient care or task-oriented duties such as answering call lights and phones.

Shift Details

  • 12-hour day shifts primarily.
  • Flexibility required to work other shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Average hours per week: 36.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of 5 years recent experience in Labor & Delivery, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
  • Experience working with Neonate patients
  • Postpartum experience
  • Experience in charge nurse roles
  • Certifications required:
    • American Heart Association ACLS
    • American Heart Association BLS
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or RNC-EFM

Additional Information

  • Orientation sessions are held on Mondays only. Missing compliance deadlines will delay orientation to the following Monday.
  • Flexibility to float to other departments where qualified is expected.
