Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift Options:
- 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Schedule: Rotating day/night shifts with majority day shifts; up to two weeks of night shifts within the 6-week schedule
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
- Holiday Requirement: As needed
- Float Requirement: Must float to ICU and Intermediate Care (IMC) units
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in District of Columbia
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- C-EFM certification
- Successful completion of Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- E-Verify and I9 documentation required upon hire
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually, including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (annual update required)
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person acceptable)
Additional Notes
- Candidates within 60 miles may be considered local
- Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to start date; these can take multiple hours
- Photo for badge required with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
- Floating between ICU and IMC units is mandatory
- Must be available for every other weekend and holiday shifts as needed
