ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Westwood, New Jersey

Position Details

• Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
• Location: Westwood, New Jersey
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Travel Radius: Must be willing to travel at least 50 miles; local candidates not accepted
• Unit Accepts: First-time travelers

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1.5 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
  • Education verification of highest level completed
• Licensing Verifications:

  • NURSYS verification for RN license
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
  • Immunizations or positive titers for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella (with specific booster requirements if titers are negative or equivocal)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Other Required Documents:

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • I9 form and E-Verify compliance
  • Clear headshot photo for badge
  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
  • Work history verification for 7 years (NJ requires minimum 1 year verified with no gaps over 30 days)

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers are accepted
• Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required as applicable, with minimum passing scores
• Fingerprinting and other state-specific requirements may apply but are not relevant for this location

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with at least 1.5 years of experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in New Jersey. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, health, and background requirements to be eligible.
