Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Telemetry

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 to 7:00)
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
  • Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
  • No holiday requested time off (RTO) allowed the day before, day of, or day after holidays
  • Maximum of 5 total RTO days allowed during the 13-week assignment (no additional RTO after submission or while working)

Unit and Patient Population

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Medical-Surgical unit with higher acuity patients
  • No IV drips required
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
  • Common patient diagnoses/procedures: altered mental status, congestive heart failure (CHF), stroke, orthopedic, surgical patients, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), infections

  • Acute Care Hospital
  • Level 3 Trauma Center
  • 171 staffed beds
  • Electronic charting system: EPIC
  • Free parking available

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Oklahoma
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Experience Requirements

  • 2 years of hospital nursing experience required
  • Prior travel experience is not required

Attendance and Scheduling Policies

  • Zero-fault attendance policy: any missed scheduled shift counts as unexcused
    • 2 missed shifts = warning
    • 3 or more missed shifts = possible contract cancellation
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Local candidates accepted

Compliance and Onboarding Requirements

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including:
    • 7-year criminal search covering all counties worked in last 7 years
    • Sex offender registry, nationwide social security trace
    • Instant statewide searches not accepted; no exceptions for background hits
  • Copy of diploma or transcript required (unofficial transcripts acceptable if graduation date included)
  • Education verification required if transcript/diploma cannot be provided
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, stating "cleared to work" with physician signature and contact info
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or chest X-ray within 5 years if prior positive TB)
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug test (10-panel) within 30 days of start with negative results
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – May 1)
  • Two professional references required prior to start
  • Work history verification for last 3 years (attestations acceptable; can be pending at start)
  • Annual skills checklist and performance evaluation (or 2 references from Charge RN or higher if no evaluation available)
  • Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, job description acknowledgment, code of conduct acknowledgment, marketing consent, and badge photo (plain white background, no filters)

Training and Competency

  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Completion of facility Oracle modules before start date (includes Microsoft Authentication setup, Oracle training, NIH Apex modules)
  • Facility WorkRamp training modules required for all RN positions; passing score 100%, unlimited attempts allowed

This position offers a challenging night shift role in a higher acuity PCU/Med-Surg environment with a strong emphasis on cardiac care competencies and strict attendance and compliance policies.
