Outpatient Physical Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation

Position Details

  • Work setting: Hospital-based outpatient rehab unit
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Weekend requirement: No
  • On-call requirement: No
  • Holiday requirement: Possible
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs or between like units/sister facilities
  • Locals not accepted
  • Local radius: 60 miles
  • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment as a Physical Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)

Certifications (Additional)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA or ARC only (check unit-specific requirements)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA or ARC only, if required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – AHA/AAP only, if required
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit; verify with recruiter or facility

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • Statewide and national criminal checks
    • Sex offender registry
    • FACIS 3
    • International searches required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification not required for this facility
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
  • Employment application/resume required

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required within 10 years of start or declination form completed
  • Tuberculosis screening:
    • 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days of contract start (T-spot not accepted)
    • If positive, proof of chest X-ray required
  • Annual TB questionnaire completion required
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B: Titer or vaccine series required; declination form accepted with conditions
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
  • Drug testing: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start

  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
