Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer - Travel/Contract

Location: Victoria, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Start date within the next 3-4 weeks
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5x8 hour shifts (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) with 1-hour lunch
• Rotating weekends: work every 4th to 5th weekend
• Weekend call on scheduled weekends plus 1-2 weekdays per week
• Responsibilities include:

  • Performing echocardiograms (including TEE and intraoperative studies) and vascular studies
  • Performing stress echos, transcranial Dopplers (TCDs), and transcutaneous oximetry (TCOMs)
  • Performing EKGs, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
  • Assisting with clerical and reception duties
  • Completing all related documentation
  • Maintaining continuing education
  • Keeping work areas stocked, neat, and assisting with equipment cleaning
  • Assuming supervisory responsibilities in absence of Registered Cardiovascular Technologist Supervisor
• Note: Registry-eligible technologists may NOT perform vascular studies independently or cover call for vascular studies; a Registered Cardiovascular Technologist with RVT or RVS registry must oversee vascular exams

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer, with recent experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
• ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) registration
• Experience as a Vascular Technologist

Experience

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Minimum 5 years of experience (based on job description emphasis)

Certifications & Compliance

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended/required as applicable
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as required, with specific timing around start date
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination allowed with facility-specific form)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination required
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox required
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID vaccination or declination required

Background & Screening Requirements

• Background check within 1 year of start, including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, and sex offender registry
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Texas-specific employability and employee misconduct registry checks within 30 days of start

Documentation & Orientation

• Must complete facility-specific documents prior to start, including confidentiality agreements, code of conduct, and orientation materials
• Skills checklist and competency exams required, updated annually
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• National technician certification verification within 30 days of start

Additional Notes

• Registry-eligible technologists cannot independently perform vascular studies or cover vascular call
• Call coverage includes weekends and some weekdays
• Must maintain continuing education and participate in equipment cleaning and stocking
