Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer (Travel/Contract)

Schedule

• Either 4x10-hour shifts or 5x8-hour shifts
• 4x10s: Weekdays, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• 5x8s: Weekdays, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Occasional Saturday rotation (8:00 AM – 1:00 PM), approximately 2-3 times per 13-week contract

Job Details

• Exams performed are portable, with some patients brought to inpatient units
• Outpatient exams vary in acuity
• Ultrasound equipment includes Philips, GE, and Siemens

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer, including experience within the last year
• Current BLS certification required
• Must hold one of the following credentials: ARDMS, RDCS, or CCI

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
• Education accreditation verification required for relevant programs
• Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
• Subcontractors must complete background acknowledgement form prior to start
• Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
• Confidential Fraud, Waste, and Abuse reporting form and training certificate required (updated annually)
• Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually

Certifications and Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred (AHA only)
• Unit-specific competency exams required
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
• State license verification within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification required for RNs (if applicable)

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive; TB questionnaire required annually
• Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12) required; exemptions not allowed for those working with infants or pregnant patients
• 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella; boosters required if low titer and no proof of vaccines
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required unless medically exempted (medical exemption must be documented and approved)
• Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series required; signed declination acceptable
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

• Parking options available at varying costs and distances; shuttle services provided for some options
• Fingerprinting must be completed at a Fast Fingerprints location if possible; out-of-state mail-in fingerprinting may delay processing
• Fingerprint results must be clear and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days
• Background hits require additional documentation and adjudication
