Description

Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (Travel)

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend

Job Summary

Provide independent nursing care in a similar clinical setting, managing routine and complex patient needs.
Deliver care aligned with nursing processes: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers as needed.

Required Qualifications

Education

Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year

Licenses & Certifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Current certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or completion of an AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) course

Orientation & Onboarding

Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days.
New hires receive preceptorship by a trained staff member.
Completion of organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Department-specific competency validation required.
Annual competency verification must be completed.

Patient Ratio

Typically 1:1 or 1:2, except when assigned to OB Emergency Department.

Additional Notes

This position requires working every third weekend.
The role involves leadership expectations consistent with nursing competencies.
