Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract
Location: Lafayette, Louisiana
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 - 7:15)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a MedTele unit with post-cardiac catheterization patients and cardiac drips.
- Patient diagnoses include chest pain, coronary artery disease, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, COPD exacerbation, COVID-19 positive, TIA, stroke, hypertension, atrial fibrillation/flutter, bradycardia, tachycardia, wound infection, cellulitis, and GI bleed.
- Special procedures include pre- and post-angiogram/angioplasty (no sheath pulls), pacemaker/AICD management, LINQ recorder monitoring, general surgical procedures (EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridement), chest tube management, central line catheter insertions, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
- Use of telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, and wound vacs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Acute care nursing experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA only; RQI accepted).
- National Institutes of Health (NIH) certification (preferred but not required).
Additional Information
- Candidates must upload a full-color, passport-style photo taken within the last 6 months for badge purposes.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification is not required for ICU or telemetry units.
- Competency exam specific to specialty required annually (minimum 80% score).
- COVID-19 medical or religious exemption forms available if applicable.
- Emergency preparedness checklist required for hurricane season (June 1 - Nov 30).
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced RN with acute care and telemetry skills, working night shifts in a cardiac-focused medical telemetry unit. The role involves managing complex cardiac patients and performing specialized procedures under established protocols. Compliance with comprehensive background, health, and certification requirements is mandatory.
