Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Job Description
- Provide radiation therapy services.
- Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Must comply with floating policy: agency staff may be required to float to other units or campuses within the health system based on census needs. Floating will only occur to units where the staff member is qualified and has demonstrated competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in South Carolina
- Minimum of 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience
- Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start date.
- E-Verify or attestation required.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
- Fingerprinting may be required if candidate has lived/worked in certain states within the last 7 years.
- Primary source verification of state license required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification of highest level completed required.
- Drug screening within 1 year of start and updated annually (5-panel minimum).
Health & Immunization
- Physical exam within 1 year of start attesting ability to meet job demands.
- Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, QF Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required for certain high-risk areas.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required (not required for remote workers).
Competency & Training
- Completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training annually (includes OSHA, patient safety, cultural diversity, etc.).
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Online orientation modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment.
- Pass/fail testing (EKG/Medication) may be required depending on unit.
- Floating policy acknowledgment required annually.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Badge photo meeting specific criteria (passport style, light background, no obstructions).
- Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation.
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment (HIPAA, OSHA, TJC training).
- Other certifications such as Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) may be required depending on unit.
Additional Notes
- Candidate must carry a valid driver’s license and state ID for computer access and on-duty identification.
- Floating to other units is mandatory as per policy but limited to qualified areas.
- Online orientation and pre-assignment testing are mandatory and time-sensitive.
- Documentation must be verifiable with clinic/facility information included.
- Some certifications and trainings may be required to be current within 30 days of start.
- Candidates with gaps of more than 30 days between assignments may require updated physicals and background checks.
This position offers a structured day shift schedule with a defined contract length and requires compliance with comprehensive credentialing, health, and competency standards to ensure quality patient care and regulatory adherence.
