Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory Therapist)
Location

Position Details
- Patient Age Group: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:15 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (schedule published in 6-week blocks)
- On-Call: Not required
- Orientation: Bi-weekly sessions
Required Qualifications
- Certified Respiratory Therapist with NICU experience (minimum 2 years)
- NICU experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- I9 or Attestation
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (if used for I9)
- Background checks within 90 days including:
- SSN Trace, counties lived/worked/attended school in last 7 years
- Alias searches, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable)
- Education verification for Respiratory Therapists (must have graduated from an accredited Respiratory Care program)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- OFAC Sanctions List Search within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (latex allergy acceptable)
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel (including THC) within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Vaccines or positive antibody titers required (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (may start with 2nd booster pending)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- Competency exam and unit-specific competency checklist (CBO) to be completed within 3 weeks after start
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training provided onsite if not already held
- Pass/fail testing (EKG/Medication) administered at orientation (not required for RRTs)
- Duke Guest Account setup required prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
References & Employment History
- Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months; at least one must be a supervisor
- Employment application with 7 years of work history required
Additional Notes
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments with this health system may have some document requirements waived or accepted on file.
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation.
- Candidate must be able to work weekends as scheduled.
- Local candidates are accepted.
- No prior travel experience required.
