Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Monticello, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Work schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
  • Shift options:
    • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
    • Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Every third weekend required
  • Unit: 6 Bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)
  • Patient care areas include: Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Triage, Antepartum, Normal Newborn, Special Care Nursery (infant IV starts, high flow oxygen)
  • Patient population: Pregnancies 36 weeks gestation or higher

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Minnesota
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Experience working with neonate patients

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year, including:
    • 7-year search, SS trace, counties, sex offender, nationwide
    • Education verification (diploma acceptable with proof of verification attempts)
    • International background checks if applicable
  • Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required before start (no starts with fingerprints pending unless approved “more time needed” letter)
  • GSA/SAM and OIG excluded provider checks required
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Drug test (9 panel) within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap (no religious declinations accepted)
    • Flu vaccine or declination (mask required if declined)
    • TB testing per Minnesota state guidelines (2-step PPD or equivalent)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) positive titer or 2 vaccines (time sensitive)
    • Varicella positive titer or 2 vaccines
    • Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination
  • Annual medication/pharmacology competency exam required (not required for NICU RNs)
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required

Additional Information

  • Education modules (~16 hours) completed during orientation
  • Dress code must be reviewed prior to start
  • Photo for badge required (grey background, no selfies or professional photos unless headshot)
  • Candidates must complete a confidentiality agreement before starting
  • Badge must be returned on last day of assignment
  • Must complete Minnesota DHS NetStudy questionnaire immediately after signing contract to initiate fingerprinting process
  • Candidates must find a livescan fingerprint location within Minnesota or out of state prior to assignment start if not local

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced Labor & Delivery RN with required certifications and newborn care experience. The position offers 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule with every third weekend required. Compliance with Minnesota-specific background checks, fingerprinting, immunizations, and competency requirements is mandatory. Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility.
