ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Quincy, Illinois

Position Details

• Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
• Location: Quincy, Illinois
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Hours per Week: 48

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
• Experience in CVU or CVICU is acceptable
• Local candidates are also considered

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): American Heart Association (AHA) only; required for ICU
• BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA only
• NIH Stroke Certification: Required and must be updated annually

Preferred Certifications (Not Required)

• Chemotherapy certification (preferred for Oncology)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) (preferred for ER)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 30 days of start, confirming good health and ability to work without restrictions
• N95 Fit Test within 12 months of start (specific approved mask models required)
• Tdap vaccination within 10 years or signed declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination proof required prior to start
• Drug test: 10-panel within 30 days of start, no rapid results accepted; repeated annually

Background & Verification Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including:

  • SSN trace
  • County searches for last 7 years
  • National criminal and sex offender checks
  • Alias search
  • Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
• Verification of last 3 years of work history
• At least 2 recent professional references within 3 years

Competency & Training Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% passing score or meet/exceed Angoff score
• Unit-specific competency exam required
• Annual completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training
• OSHA mandatory training, updated annually
• Color blind testing required for all travelers

Additional Notes

• Computer-based learning modules must be completed before start date (approximately 4 hours)
• Returning employees will have password reset instructions for training portal
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• ICU experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
