Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Call: Night call preferred, approximately 1 every other week
Weekend: Every other weekend required
Patient Ratio Experience: 1:20

Job Description

• Rotate between acute care and long-term care settings
• Patient diagnoses commonly include CHF, COPD, pneumonia, respiratory failure, and respiratory infections
• Responsibilities include arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling, ventilator management, patient assessment, and pulmonary hygiene
• Use of specialized equipment such as Hamilton and Servo-U ventilators, NKV330 NIV device, AIRVO2, Dream Machines, and V30 ventilators
• Airway management skills required: endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, intubation assistance, nasal and oral airway placement and suctioning, sputum specimen collection, tracheostomy suctioning
• Oxygen therapy delivery via bag and mask, ET tube, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), T-piece, and trach collar
• Ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in New York
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Respiratory Care Practitioner experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience maintaining a 1:20 patient ratio
• Proficient in arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling

• Scrubs: Any shade of gray or gray/black combination
• No local candidates within 50 miles accepted
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

This position is ideal for experienced RRTs comfortable working nights in critical care and emergency settings, with strong ventilator and airway management skills.
