Job Opportunity: GI Lab Registered Nurse
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (GI Lab)
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (07:30 - 16:00)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2 during day shift
- Unit Size: 6 procedure rooms
- Floating: Not required to float outside scope of practice
- Call Requirements:
- On-call approximately once a week and every 10th weekend
- Monday-Thursday call ends at 19:00
- Friday-Sunday call is 24 hours each day
- Weekend Requirement: No mandatory weekend shifts outside call schedule
- Block Scheduling: Possible with manager approval
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of endoscopy experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Pre/Post procedure skills and experience
- Ability to recover patients from conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care sedation
- Procedure experience with bronchoscopy, circulating, colonoscopy, and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
- Magnet designated facility
- 562 staffed beds
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking permit required, no cost
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and federal exclusions within 30 days of start
- Primary source verification of RN license and certifications
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and ability to perform job functions
- Fit mask test required prior to start (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or documented immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
- Photo for badge required before start
- References: 2 professional references required
Additional Notes
- Candidate may be called off up to 36 hours during the 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
- Time off requests and schedule accommodations must be discussed with manager
- Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start if candidate does not hold an Illinois license
- First-time travelers accepted with adequate experience
- Prior travel experience is not required
