Description

CVOR Tech (Surgical Services) - Travel/Contract

Location: Dayton, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 5x8 hours (6:30 AM - 2:30 PM)
Call: 1 day per week and every 5th weekend (Friday 3 PM - Monday 7 AM)
Work Setting: Surgical Services with open heart experience required; must be flexible to work across multiple service lines including general, gynecology, vascular, urology, podiatry, orthopedics, and spine. The CVOR team floats between two hospital campuses.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist.
  • Recent CVOR Technologist experience within the last year.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) through Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist (CAAHEP accredited program and national exam) or certification via National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national or all states, all counties, and national sex offender registry.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
    • Fingerprinting not required unless working with infants, children, elderly, pharmacy techs, or pain management clinics.
  • Education Verification: Primary source verification required for surgical tech program completion.
  • Licensure: Ohio licensure verification required if applicable.
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months, including marijuana panel. Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness to work and free of communicable diseases.
    • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination series, immune titer, or declination).
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray; annual TB questionnaire if past positive.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
    • Respiratory safety clearance within 1 year, renewed annually.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all clinical positions.
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for RNs (not applicable here).
  • Competencies:
    • Medication/pharmacology competency exam within 2 years.
    • Unit-specific competency exam within 2 years.
  • References: Two professional references within 2 years required; one must be a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse. Employment verification accepted if references unavailable.
  • Employment Application: Current resume/application required.
  • Skills Checklist: Required within 1 year and updated annually.

Additional Information

  • The employer reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts due to low census during the contract.
  • Agreement cancellation possible with 2 weeks’ notice without penalty.
  • Travelers are not eligible for employee incentives.
  • Request for Return to Office (RTO) must be submitted with initial application; no additions after offer. Approval at manager’s discretion.
