Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Vascular Interventional Radiology
  • Shift: Day shift, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM (4 days x 10 hours)
  • Caseload: 5-8 cases per day
  • On-Call: Required 1 weeknight every other week, plus 1-2 weekends and possibly 1 holiday during the contract
  • Weekend Requirement: No regular weekend shifts, but occasional weekend on-call required
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Floating: Not allowed outside scope of practice
  • Radius Rule: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, with adjusted pay rate

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
    • SCQRSA (South Carolina Quality Radiologic Safety Act)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support, AHA or ARC accepted)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card
  • I-9 form and E-Verify attestation confirming work eligibility in the US
  • Annual background check covering 7 years of residence/work history, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • State and national criminal checks
    • Sex offender registry
    • FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
  • Radiation badge required for all Radiology/Cardiology travelers (may take 5-7 days to process; no start without badge)
  • Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed before starting
  • Passport-style badge photo required before start date

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Fit test for N95 mask (specific models required), renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete facility vaccination declination form
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption; documentation must be uploaded before deadline

Additional Notes

  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week; facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks but hours can be redistributed
  • All required documents and certifications must be current and valid at start (no certifications expiring within 30 days of start accepted)
  • Travelers must comply with facility policies including emergency response during hurricane season
  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position
