Registered Nurse - Cath Lab (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (7:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
- On Call: Yes, approximately once a week to fill schedule gaps; on-call hours 8:00 PM to 7:30 AM, weekends and holidays on call is 24 hours
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center
- Charting System: Epic
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; 1.5 years accepted if from a Level 1 trauma center or large hospital
- Required IV therapy skills:
- Blood product administration
- Implanted ports care and maintenance
- IV infusion pumps
- End-Tidal CO2 monitoring experience required
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Blood product administration experience
- End-Tidal CO2 monitoring experience
Facility-Specific Training & Compliance
- Completion of multiple mandatory training modules and attestations, including but not limited to:
- Stroke education (except pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI prevention for adult and pediatric patients
- Preventing pressure injury training
- Language services training
- CAUTI education (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
- Patient transportation with oxygen education
- Suicide risk and environmental assessment training
- Pyxis ES MedStation training
- Baxter pump interoperability training
- Patient bedside rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) awareness
- AME Blood Administration module (annual update required)
- New employee orientation module
- 21st Century Cures Act module (required for RN except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs)
- eCart training module (not required for pediatric, periop/OR, outpatient, case managers, home health)
- Chaperone policy training (required for RNs and allied health)
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must provide photo ID matching legal name on first day
- Must provide 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Employment application and work history verification required
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain tech and specialty roles (added compliance)
- Compliance with all facility-specific documentation and credentialing processes
Summary
This travel RN position in the Cath Lab requires a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience (1.5 years accepted from trauma/large hospital), strong IV therapy skills, and End-Tidal CO2 monitoring experience. The role includes day shifts with on-call responsibilities approximately once a week. Candidates must meet extensive licensing, certification, health, and training requirements specific to the facility and specialty. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
