Job Opportunity: Stepdown Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: Stepdown Intermediate Care (22-bed unit)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Call: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, as needed
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Charting System: Cerner Powerchart
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
- Local candidates not accepted (must live at least 50 miles away)
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Stepdown/Intermediate Care)
- Minimum Experience: 2 years in specialty
- First-time travelers accepted
- Licenses: Valid RN license for Michigan
- Certifications (required):
- ACLS (AHA only)
- BLS (AHA only)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (required for all RNs; must be completed through BlueCloud)
- Preferred Certification: CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in; must be within 90 days of start and updated annually
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
- Physical exam required (Aya Physician Statement form)
- Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
- TB testing: Negative 2-step PPD or Qgold within 1 year; T-Spots not accepted; if positive PPD, chest x-ray within past 12 months required
- TB questionnaire required prior to start and annually thereafter
- Immunizations or titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start; documentation must be on file by December 15
- COVID vaccine exemption allowed with signed medical or religious exemption form
Additional Facility Requirements
- Clear, passport-style photo with solid background for badge
- Completion of facility-specific confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement prior to start
- Completion of mandatory online modules (~8-10 hours) before start date; modules due by Friday 1:00 PM CST before start
- Fit mask test preferred; if none within last year, note will be made and requirement may be waived
- Call and holiday coverage as specified
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required
- Candidates must be willing to float as needed
- This is a night shift position with every other weekend and holiday requirements
- The unit uses Cerner Powerchart for documentation
