Job Opportunity: MRI Tech

Location: Somerville, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Perform a full spectrum of MRI studies (no cardiac MRI performed onsite)
• Patient population includes inpatient, outpatient, and ER patients
• Equipment used: GE 450W and GE Signa Excite scanners
• Average workload: approximately 15 cases per day
• Charting system: EPIC
• Shift schedule:

  • Tuesday & Thursday: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Wednesday & Friday: 2:30 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Saturday: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Weekend scheduling as needed
• On-call requirements: one 8.5-hour day per week and one 24-hour weekend every 5 weeks
• Block scheduling may be available (discuss during interview)
• Scrub color: Black
• Manager is flexible on schedule
• Locals accepted
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of MRI Technologist experience
• MRI Technologist experience within the last year

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
• Drug screen (10-panel urine) within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within the last 12 months, confirming ability to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (specific testing protocols apply)
• Immunization or immunity documentation required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer required)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
• Seasonal influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start; must be updated annually
• Color vision testing within 1 year if job tasks require color discrimination
• Latex allergy screening questionnaire within 1 year if applicable
• Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam and other required competency exams within 72 hours of signing contract
• Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication as applicable
• Acknowledgement of annual education and safety manuals prior to start

• Time off requests must be submitted with application and approved before offer
• Candidates must bring all required documentation to orientation
• On-site fit testing is mandatory; facial hair must be shaved unless approved accommodation is provided
• Candidates switching between sites with less than 30-day gap may reuse prior documentation if within required timeframes
