Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Travel)

Location

  • Alexandria, Louisiana

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Employment Type

  • Travel, Full Time
  • Shift: Nights, 7 PM – 7 AM

Unit & Patient Population

  • Very high acuity unit
  • Patient cases include strokes, cardiovascular, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, sepsis
  • Some trauma cases (not a trauma-designated unit)
  • Security onsite 24/7

Nurse/Patient Ratio

  • 4:1

Required Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • CPI certification
  • TNCC certification

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Orientation & Onboarding

  • New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days
  • Precepted by trained staff with competency validations including Emergency Department-specific competencies
  • Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
  • Completion of annual competency verifications required

Work Schedule & Requirements

  • Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • No on-call required
  • No floating to other units

Job Summary & Responsibilities

  • Practice independently in a similar clinical setting
  • Provide routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation)
  • Manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitor side effects and effectiveness
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
  • Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers to manage clinical situations
  • Meet leadership competencies at various levels (self, others, leaders) consistent with ANA standards
