Registered Nurse (Telemetry) - Travel Assignment

Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Work Schedule: Full Time
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On Call Requirement: None
Nurse to Patient Ratio: 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing
Patient Population: Cardiac and Telemetry (Not a Stepdown unit)
Temp-to-Perm: Possible


Job Summary

Provides independent nursing care in a cardiac and telemetry setting, managing routine and complex patient needs. Utilizes nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Delegates appropriately and addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitors effectiveness and side effects, and documents care thoroughly. Provides patient and family education based on assessed learning needs.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Orientation and Competency Requirements

  • Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
  • Preceptorship by a trained staff member with validation of organizational and MedSurg-specific competencies
  • Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
  • Completion of all annual competency verifications required

Additional Information

  • Epic electronic health record experience required
  • No on-call duties
  • Weekend work every other weekend
  • Patient assignments vary based on staffing and acuity
