Operating Room Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – New Orleans, Louisiana

Position Details

• Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
• Hours per Week: 40 hours

Job Requirements

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
• One completed travel nursing assignment
• Experience caring for neonate, adult, and geriatric patients
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Current BLS certification

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or Compact License, verified within 30 days of start.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only, RQI accepted; must be current or renewed prior to start.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required if applicable to unit; check unit description.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required if applicable to unit; check unit description.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required if applicable to unit; check unit description.
• Other certifications (e.g., TNCC, EFM, CPI) may be required depending on unit assignment; verify with program management.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
• Education verification of highest degree completed.
• Sex offender search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant screens not accepted.
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, indicating good health.
• Fit mask testing: Annual N95 fit test required; can be completed onsite if needed.
• Immunizations and titers: Must provide proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required for select units)
