Description

Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-Call: Not required
Floating: May float within scope depending on experience; no floating to sister facilities


Facility Overview

  • Teaching hospital with Magnet designation and Level 1 Trauma center
  • Total staffed beds: 865
  • Electronic health record system: Epic
  • Parking available nights and weekends for a one-time fee

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Pediatric, Neonate, and Infant patients
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
  • Holiday rotation included
  • Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks (guaranteed hours with this allowance)
  • Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9 form)
  • Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card
  • Annual background check covering last 7 years, including multiple national and state-level searches
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if needed
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed)
    • Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest X-ray if previously positive
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Color blindness test required prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Competency exam required

Additional Requirements

  • Clear, passport-style badge photo with solid light background, business casual attire, no posing or side views
  • Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers (or all if fewer than 3)
  • Radiation badge may be required if assigned to units with radiation exposure (not typical for this role)
  • HIPAA attestation required

Important Notes

  • Hurricane season (June–November) may require emergency response team participation; consider this before accepting or extending assignments
  • Pending state license accepted only if SC RRT license is in hand at start
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated with prior approval but is not guaranteed
