Home Health Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Kennewick, Washington

Job Overview

  • Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
  • Supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
  • Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
  • Types of visits: Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5x8 hour shifts).
  • Contract length: 13 weeks.
  • Travel required: Willingness to travel up to 75 miles from home clinic; approximately 100 miles traveled weekly.
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
  • No guaranteed hours; potential to float to nearby clinics if patient census is low.
  • Dress code: Scrubs.
  • Charting system: Proficiency required in HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) within the last 6 months; RNs must also be proficient in OASIS.
  • Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate (patient home to patient home travel only).

Required Qualifications

  • License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand (no pending licenses accepted).
  • Experience: Minimum 1 full year of recent Adult Home Health or Hospice experience (first-time travelers not accepted).
  • Certifications: Current CPR and BLS certification (AHA, National CPR Foundation, or ARC accepted).
  • Reliable transportation and current driver's license required.
  • Must have agency-required liability insurance.
  • Proficiency with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) and OASIS documentation systems.
  • Must be willing to comply with territory mileage requirements and travel expectations.

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Background checks covering the last 7 years, including SS trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific searches.
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug test required.
  • Health documents required prior to start and updated annually:
    • Physical exam within 12 months confirming good health and no communicable diseases.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
    • Proof of immunizations or titers for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination.
    • COVID-19 vaccination series or declination.
  • Fingerprinting and state-specific clearances as required by assignment location.
  • Verification of education and work history (at least two most recent employers or last 7 years).
  • Two professional references required.
  • Must review and sign multiple compliance and confidentiality documents prior to start, including but not limited to:
    • Code of Conduct
    • HIPAA and Privacy Policy
    • Compliance Training Certification
    • Home Health Scenarios and Core Policy Acknowledgements
    • Employee Responsibility Agreement
    • COVID-19 Policy and Attestation
    • Confidentiality Covenant
  • Personal or auto insurance policy required for home health placements, with candidate listed as policyholder or driver.

On-Call / Weekend Requirements

  • Weekend and on-call requirements vary by location and profession; discuss during interview.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with recent home health or hospice experience who are comfortable with travel and working independently in a home care setting.
