Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery / Postpartum) - Travel Position
Location: New Braunfels, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Job Summary
- Provide independent nursing care in labor and delivery and postpartum settings.
- Manage routine and complex patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Delegate and assign tasks to other care providers to effectively manage clinical situations.
- Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments following protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
Patient Ratios
- Labor and Delivery: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Postpartum: 1 nurse to 6 patients (3 mothers and 3 babies)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- STABLE certification (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants)
- Current certification in one of the following:
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or
- NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
Orientation and Onboarding
- New experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
- New hires receive preceptorship by a trained staff member.
- Completion of organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Services-specific competency validation required.
- Annual competency verification must be completed.
Work Environment
- Full-time position with 12-hour day shifts.
- Facility includes a renovated birthing center with 24/7 neonatal coverage.
