Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Cottonwood, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Nuclear Medicine Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
- Call: Every 3rd weekend, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM; also required on federal holidays if they occur during the contract (one holiday call if multiple occur)
- On-call requirement: Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM every third week
- Floating: Not required
- Blocked scheduling: No
- Locals accepted
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week; facility may call off up to 6 times during the 13-week assignment
- Expected to function unsupervised after two weeks of onsite training
- May work alone occasionally and may need to cover two departments

Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Arizona
- Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
- MRTBE (Arizona license, typically obtained within 7-10 days)
- NMTCB or ARRT certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Must be able to work independently after training period
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID (passport not accepted alone)
- Background checks including 7-year history, SSN trace, criminal and sex offender searches within 30 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Transcript/Diploma verification (Medical Lab Techs/Technologists)
- Arizona fingerprint card required prior to start
- Radiation Badge Request Form (time sensitive, must be completed within 1 week of contract signing)
- Employment application covering last 3 years with documented gaps over 30 days
- Two professional references (one from most recent employer within 1 year)
- Verification of 3 years of work history with documented gaps
- Security question form signed at least one week prior to start
- Travel information verification form signed prior to start
- Facility-specific job description form completed prior to start
- Professional attire and appearance policy signed prior to start
- Substance abuse screening policy signed prior to start
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask test (N95) within 1 year, updated annually; onsite fit testing available if needed
- Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or Tspot) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray required for past positives
- TB questionnaire within 30 days of start after positive TB result, then annually
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred within last 10 years or declination)
- Drug testing: 10-panel urine screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination form required for 2025-2026 season; decliners must wear a mask when not eating or drinking
- COVID vaccination series or signed declination form required
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher, completed within 1 year of start)
- Competency Exam (80% or higher, completed within 1 year)
- Color Blind Testing (100% passing score required, completed via Relias)
- Core Parts I, II, III (annual updates required, not applicable to Medical Technologists)
- Fall Prevention Competency Exam (required for RNs, not applicable here)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must adhere to facility quality and patient safety standards, including medication administration protocols (BCMA)
- NM Techs typically work with another NM Tech but may occasionally work alone or cover multiple departments
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
