Description

MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Saturday, Sunday, Monday | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12.5-hour shifts)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Floating: Required per facility policy; may float to other units/campuses if qualified and trained

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • ARRT(R)(CT) certification
  • BLS certification (AHA or ARC only; RQI acceptable)
  • Experience in an outpatient setting
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or attestation
  • Valid Driver’s License/State ID required for computer access and must be carried on duty
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • Background check: 7-year history within 12 months of start, including SS trace, aliases, all states/counties lived/worked in last 7 years, FACIS III, sex offender, and international searches if applicable
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
  • Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., residency less than 12 months in state)
  • Education verification of highest level completed (diplomas not accepted as placeholders)
  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands (no chiropractors)
  • Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working/floating in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (True 2-step PPD, QF Gold, or Tspot)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine may be pending but must be completed within 28 days)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (second vaccine may be pending but must be completed within 28 days)
    • Annual flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (not required for remote workers)
  • Drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually (5-panel minimum)

Orientation & Training

  • Online orientation modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
  • Pre-assignment testing (medication and arrhythmia tests) required within 72 hours of receiving login; two attempts allowed
  • Badge photo required with specific background and quality standards
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required annually

Additional Certifications (if applicable)

  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI or MAB (check unit-specific requirements)
  • National tech certification verification required within 30 days of start
  • Core competency training (Parts I, II, III) required annually

  • Pending licenses or background checks are not accepted; all must be active and current before start
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements to be cleared for assignment
  • Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be accepted for this position
