Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Saint Louis, Missouri
Position Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, each 12 hours (18:45 - 7:15)
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- Contract Length: Approximately 26 weeks
- Work Setting: ICU and general floors in a teaching hospital environment
- Floating: Required to float within scope between ICU and floors
- Holidays: Some holiday shifts required
- Local candidates within 75 miles radius are not accepted
- Pending Missouri Respiratory Care Practitioner License accepted
- Maximum time off (RTO) allowed: 7 days
- Minimum guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Comfortable managing mechanically ventilated patients
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Preferred Qualifications
- Active membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field, or actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA certified
- Required certifications must be current and valid
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest degree related to profession
- Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) and Highway Patrol checks as applicable
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel of substances
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) with annual renewal; facial hair must allow proper fit
- Immunization and health document requirements including:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or equivalent within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies
- Orientation modules completion through online platform (approx. 16 hours)
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)

- No block scheduling accommodations

- Must be willing to precept respiratory therapy students occasionally
- Parking available with fees; free parking for straight night shifts
- Must adhere to facility policies and complete all required documentation prior to start
