Description
Pharmacist Inpatient - Travel/Contract
Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Setting: Inpatient pharmacy
- Shift: Rotating 5x8 hour shifts on weekdays, including some weekends (every 3rd weekend)
- Shift Times:
- Day: 06:30–15:00, 07:30–16:00, 09:00–17:30, 10:00–18:30
- Evening: 13:00–21:30, 14:30–23:00
- Overnight (if assigned): 19:30–07:30, 20:30–07:30 (7 nights on, 7 nights off)
- Hours per week: 40 hours
- Dress Code: Professional dress or hunter green scrubs (scrubs not provided)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Hospital Pharmacist license in Virginia
- Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Minimum 1 year of hospital pharmacist experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- IV experience
- Pain controlled analgesia experience
- Drug interactions experience
- Experience with Epic
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during work hours
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG required and must be current
- Primary source verification of Virginia pharmacist license required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date, updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year of start, updated annually (PAPR not allowed)
- Immunizations and titers required within 10 years or valid declinations for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella (declination allowed except for Mother Baby or infant/peds specialties)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required if working in Mother Baby, L&D, Nursery, or ER units (no exemptions accepted)
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or Tspot) within 1 year, with additional requirements if history of positive TB
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (or approved medical/religious exemption with mask requirement)
- COVID-19 vaccine preferred but not required; documentation collected if available
- Passport-style photo required before start (specific photo requirements apply)
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Proof of 2 professional references required
- Completed employment application/resume required
Additional Requirements
- Fingerprinting required for all candidates starting 1/1/2026; must be completed promptly to avoid delays
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
- Pass/fail testing for medication and pharmacology competency as applicable
- Acknowledgment of pass/fail testing for EKG/medication required for RNs (not applicable here)
- E-Verify attestation required for direct placements
Notes
- This is a travel/contract position with a firm requirement for a Virginia pharmacist license at time of application.
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Professional dress or hunter green scrubs required; scrubs are not provided.
- EPIC charting experience is mandatory.
- The position involves rotating shifts including some weekends and possible overnight shifts with a 7-on/7-off schedule if assigned nights.
