Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 6 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:00 - 06:30)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care
Unit Details:
- 30 Bed Medical ICU
- 10 Bed Cardiac ICU
- Emergency Room (Not a Trauma Center)
- Night shift team of 5-7 therapists
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience working with adult patients
- Experience drawing arterial blood gases
Equipment Used
- Servo U/Avea Ventilators
- V60/Resmed
- IPV (Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation)
- Biwaze Cough Assist
- Vest Therapy
- Versapap/Aerobika
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest related degree required before start
- Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including comprehensive drug panel
- Fit mask test (N95 respirators) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray with yearly TB questionnaire
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Hepatitis B declination required (vaccination not mandatory)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept-April)
- Various facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
Additional Information
- First-time travel therapists accepted
- No on-call responsibilities
- Medication system used: Pyxis
- Photo for badge required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Must comply with all facility policies and complete required orientation modules (approximately 16 hours) through the designated learning platform before starting
- Candidates must be willing to work night shifts and meet weekend requirements
