Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15)
- Total 36 hours per week
Unit Information
- 12-bed unit
- EKG/Telemetry background preferred
- Special equipment used: Alaris Pumps
- Floating required to all inpatient units
- Must work every other weekend and every other holiday
- Block scheduling not accommodated on this unit
- First-time travelers accepted
- Less than 2 years of experience accepted
Hurricane Season Notice
- Position is in an area commonly impacted by hurricanes (June 1 - Nov 30, with possible storms outside this window)
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team during storms, requiring staying at the facility or participating in relief efforts
- Candidates should be comfortable with these conditions before applying
Required Certifications and Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Telemetry experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Required Licensure
- Active Louisiana RN license or Compact RN license required upon submission
- License must be current or renewed prior to start date
Required Background and Compliance Checks
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Sex offender search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification or transcript/diploma if verification cannot be completed
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
- Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months; if positive, additional documentation required
- Immunity or vaccination documentation for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tdap required only for select units (not specified here)
- Seasonal flu vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
Drug Testing
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; must be initiated within 24-48 hours of offer acceptance
- Instant screenings not accepted; must be updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Current/valid driver’s license or government photo ID (color copy)
- Passport-style photo (color, plain background, no obstructions) within last 6 months, uploaded within 24 hours of booking
- Competency exam specific to specialty, completed within 1 year prior to start, minimum 80%, updated annually
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Employment application/resume with 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps
OnCall and Floating
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to all inpatient units required
Other Notes
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification not required for ICU specialties (not specified if required here)
- Candidates may be required to complete onsite fit testing for masks if not completed prior to start
- Must comply with emergency preparedness protocols during hurricane season
This position is suitable for RNs with telemetry experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a hurricane-prone area and willing to float to other inpatient units. First-time travel nurses and those with less than 2 years of experience are welcome to apply.
