Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU
Location
- Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Day shift, 3 shifts per week
- Shift hours: 6:15 AM to 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (schedule published in 6-week blocks)
- No on-call requirement
Patient Population
- Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in NICU, pediatric critical care, pediatrics, and emergency department (ED)
- Level IV NICU experience is a hard requirement
- Experience with high frequency jet ventilator and oscillating ventilator
- Experience with pediatric cardiac anomalies
Required Certifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in North Carolina (must have or be able to obtain within 2-4 weeks)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Additional Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID
- Background checks including SSN trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list search
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Required immunizations/vaccinations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Polio vaccine or attestation
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
- Completion of facility-specific online modules prior to orientation
- Competency exam and unit-specific competency checklist to be completed within 3 weeks after start
- Must set up a facility guest account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
- Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
- Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Experience working with neonate patients
Orientation
- Bi-weekly orientation sessions
Notes
- First-time travelers are welcome
- Local candidates within 75 miles are considered and offered a slightly adjusted rate
- Candidate must be able to complete all required documentation and clearances prior to start date
This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with strong NICU and pediatric critical care backgrounds who are comfortable working extended day shifts and weekends in a high-acuity environment.
