Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Shenandoah, Iowa
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
• Weekly Hours: 40
• Unit: 4 Operating Rooms
• Surgical Specialties: Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, General Surgery, Cataracts, Pain Injections, ENT, Obstetrics
• Patient Volume: 5-10 surgical patients per day
• Call Requirements:

  • Call rotation with variable hours
  • Every 3rd weekend on call only (no scheduled weekend shifts)
  • If on weekend call, only 1-2 weekday shifts that week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in an outpatient setting
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in ENT, Endocrinology, Gynecology, Podiatry, and Orthopedics
• Experience with Altera system preferred

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background checks within 30 days of start, including:

  • SSN Trace, County, Statewide, Nationwide, National Sex Offender
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM
  • HHS/OIG
• State license verification within 30 days of start
• Mandatory Iowa-specific requirements:

  • Iowa SING Memorandum of Understanding (SING check)
  • Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certification (required prior to start)
• Signed Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Parking Policy, and COVID-19 Employee Health Attestation

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start date
• Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (medical exemption accepted)
• TB testing: Negative QGold/TSPOT or 2 PPDs within 12 months, or documented positive with chest x-ray and questionnaire
• Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; if negative, 2 boosters required (may start after first booster)
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; if negative, 2 boosters required (may start after first booster)
• Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (mask required if declining during flu season, 10/1 - 3/31)
• Latex allergy screening questionnaire
• COVID-19 vaccine strongly recommended (dose 1 and fully vaccinated if applicable)

Additional Notes

• No scheduled weekend shifts; weekends are on-call only every third weekend
• Call rotation may reduce weekday shifts during call weeks
• Facility performs a variety of surgical procedures requiring versatile OR nursing skills

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with prior travel assignments who are comfortable with call rotations and diverse surgical specialties.
