Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Full-time
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call duties

Unit

• Basic Medical-Surgical unit

Job Summary

• Independently provides routine and complex nursing care in a medical-surgical setting.
• Utilizes nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments, monitors for side effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and educates patients, families, and caregivers.
• Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 5:1 or 6:1.
• Dress code: Ceil blue scrubs.
• Temp-to-perm opportunity possible.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Competencies

• Expected to meet professional nursing competencies including leadership at various levels.
• Practice consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
