Description

Pharmacist Outpatient - Travel/Contract

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

Provide safe and effective medication therapy to optimize patient outcomes. Ensure completion and documentation of all pharmacy work, including technician tasks. Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals relevant to patient contact level.


Work Schedule

  • Shifts vary between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM depending on rotation.
  • Typical morning shift: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Typical evening shift: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM
  • 40 hours per week, generally 5 days of 8-hour shifts

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on medications, pharmacokinetics, nutritional info, therapeutic drug monitoring, and pain management.
  • Verify physician orders for medication safety, indications, allergies, dosing, interactions, duplications, cost-effectiveness, and formulary compliance.
  • Verify, initial, and ensure accuracy and timely completion of all pharmacy work, including technician tasks.
  • Ensure proper dispensing and storage of medications in all healthcare areas.
  • Maintain readiness of emergency carts by managing supplies or delegating to technicians.
  • Compound and dispense pharmaceutical products accurately, including labeling, documentation, and distribution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
  • Current Oklahoma Pharmacy license
  • Minimum 1 year of pharmacy experience (implied by role and responsibilities)
  • 15 hours of approved continuing education annually
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Computerized prescription (Rx) experience preferred

Additional Information

  • May have physical demands and respiratory fit test requirements.
  • Handle hazardous drugs (chemotherapeutics, some antivirals) with appropriate safety precautions.
  • Return to Office (RTO) cannot exceed 5 days.
